Lions attend annual BEI 5k

The Bilingual Education Institute (BEI) 5K is more than just a community run - it’s an event built around supporting Houston’s refugee and immigrant communities. Each year, it brings people together to raise funds and awareness for BEI’s work in providing language education, job training, and support services that help individuals build stable, independent lives.

The atmosphere on the day of the event reflected that purpose. Participants of all backgrounds showed up, some ready to run, others planning to walk, but all there with a shared understanding of why the event matters. It wasn’t overly competitive or intense - most people were focused on finishing the course and being part of something meaningful.
