The new season is officially underway, and excitement is building as both the Amaanah Lions A Team and B Team begin their campaigns in the Houston Football Association (HFA). This marks another major step forward for the program, which continues to grow in strength, participation, and community support.
This year, the Amaanah Lions A Team will compete in the HFA Premier Division, while the B Team will play in Division 1A, giving more players the opportunity to experience organized, high-level soccer while representing their community with pride.
Training sessions are held every Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. at Bayland Park, where players from both teams come together to prepare, develop, and strengthen the unity that defines the Lions. Matches for the B Team will be played at Bear Creek Park, while the A Team will take the field at Campbell Sports Park, both familiar venues in Houston’s vibrant soccer community.
The A Team is led by Head Coach Amine Amrouni, who continues to build on last year’s progress and push his players toward technical excellence and team cohesion. The B Team, coached by Hakim Yassine, focuses on player development and providing a platform for emerging talent to grow into future A Team contenders. Together, the coaching staff is dedicated to helping every player reach their potential while staying true to Amaanah’s mission of empowerment through sport.
The HFA season will run through June of next year, with a month-long winter break over Christmas. It’s a long and challenging campaign, but one that brings invaluable experience, fitness, and camaraderie to everyone involved.
As always, the Amaanah Lions welcome new players who are eager to train, learn, and compete. The program remains open to anyone who shares a passion for soccer and community, regardless of background or experience level. All are encouraged to come out, join a session, and see what it means to be part of the Lions family.
The new season promises excitement, competition, and the continuation of a story that goes far beyond soccer. Every pass, tackle, and goal tells a story of dedication, inclusion, and belonging, values that lie at the heart of the Amaanah Lions program.
As the first whistle blows, the teams carry with them not just their colors but the pride of a community that believes in them. With hard work, teamwork, and the continued support of coaches, volunteers, and fans, the Amaanah Lions are ready for another unforgettable season on and off the field.
